Connect via bluetooth
Allow the iPad to connect to the computer via bluetooth. That way you can connect when you are unable to be on a local network.

We need a bluetooth solution for non-3G,4G ipads

For iPhone and iPad with 3G support (you have to be connected to Internet with a SIM-card),
